The South West Regional Authority of Ireland is a statutory public body with responsibility for strategic planning in the Region. The Authority also makes recommendations on government investment programmes and monitors and reviews the operation of the National Development Plan.
The Authority’s vision for the South West, is that the Region will continue to achieve sustainable, balanced growth and development, that the people of the region will continue to enjoy a high quality of life while protecting and enhancing our unique culture and heritage. The Authority has just published its Regional Planning Guidelines document which comprehensively details the strategy for the development of the Region. The Authority is actively engaged in a programme of trans-regional co-operation with other European Regions and to this end participates in a variety of European Projects and Programmes.
